One of my Bible students gave me two of these the other day and I planted them - I think that they are heleconias, but I haven't had time to try to identify them as of yet Posted by Picasa

Steve, this appears similar to Heliconia aurantiaca, a native to Belize, small blossom orange at first then fades to an attractive green w age, but this heliconia is a very small plant, smaller than the one in your image. I believe the one in the image might be Heliconia angusta, Orange Christmas.
