Finally, we also got a great close-up view of Mr Iguana as he trundled up the tree limb. He was probably 3 1/2 to 4 feet long from the tip of his prickly little nose to the end of his pointed little tail and not at all concerned about all of the gawking that was going on.Posted by Picasa

the book calls this encyclia alata, I call it amazing Posted by Picasa

these red beauties were everywhere Posted by Picasa

what a banquet for the eyes Posted by Picasa

the walk along the course of Blue Creek also had many beautiful examples of Jehovah's creation Posted by Picasa

I found these two characters on a table downstairs this afternoon and couldn't quite tell if it was mortal combat or the "spring is in the air" thing - still not sure but I am convinced that the bug eating by the critter on the left is totally unrelated to whatever is going on - or at least, I hope so Posted by Picasa

this is another belizean caterpillar - really cute, but not to be handled - each one of those pretty hair-like things are barbs that he leaves with you if you touch him and they turn out to be quite painfull in the morning Posted by Picasa

this is another picture for sister sam ( sorry for the fuzzy nature of the photo ) it is the nicest piece of Casava cake that I have ever had Posted by Picasa

this orchid's blossoms don't last long but they bloom often and I never get tired of looking at them Posted by Picasa

just another belizean bloomer - haven't had time to try to identify this guy yet Posted by Picasa

we are 2 miles off of the grid so this is how we activate the satellite dish, see what we are doing at night, and keep the beer cold - it's a butane fired 24 hp honda generator and it, along with our battery bank/inverter system, seems to be getting the job done Posted by Picasa

i love these flowers Posted by Picasa

soon we will be eating mangos and the pineapples have just started as well Posted by Picasa

looking down the driveway from the northwest corner of the veranda - one of the original thatch houses in the distance - we bought the place from a Kekchi Indian man who had two wives and 24 children - at one time their were 5 or 6 residences on the place Posted by Picasa

it looks like a cucumber but it is a loofah, just about ready to pick and turn into a scrubber Posted by Picasa

the stairs down to the "patio" on top of the shelter Posted by Picasa

the southwest corner - another hammock and a table without chairs (they are downstairs..........=) Posted by Picasa

this is our first visitors bunk, currently tucked in behind the upstairs library - we are working on a second bed and some portable privacy barriers Posted by Picasa

the thatched roof is much cooler than the metal roofing and the construction is much more pleasing to the eye Posted by Picasa

our bed faces the sunrise with a couple of more hammocks in the background Posted by Picasa

looking the other direction Posted by Picasa

this is the view to the east from the veranda with the first of our five hammocks - sorry for the color distortion - not dark enough for the flash so it kinda makes the picture look weird Posted by Picasa

these are the stairs up to the second floor Posted by Picasa
