The "other" guy is obviously a kin to the grasshopper and in the final analysis was clearly a friend. He seemed to like to walk rather than hop and here sits on top of a roll of paper towelsPosted by Picasa

The other two are really probably our "friends" too, they are just "new" to us and we really don't understand them. This guy (or gal) is about 2 - 3 inches from stem to stern and was/is hanging out under the eaves of the thatch roof upstairs - fortunately clear across the room from my bed.............=) The picture is shown here upside down and in the picture the black "dots" rowed up on the left are empty lunch containersPosted by Picasa

We had four surprise visitors today - two friendly and two that we are not too sure about. These two characters are definitely the friendly ones. We had a very nice visit with Les and Colette - they both looked GREAT ..............and right at home. Posted by Picasa

The individual flowers are astonishingly beautiful - and there are zillions of them.  Posted by Picasa

I acquired a new orchid the other day - it has multiple large flower pod things - each with many individual blooms Posted by Picasa

The former contents were resting nearby, no-doubt trying to get up the courage for its first attempt at flight. The red antenna are a very nice touch and the goggles are "way cool" Posted by Picasa

I came home to find the bug container thing from the other day empty Posted by Picasa

I signed up to provide lunch for the Circuit Overseer and his wife on Wednesday as they worked in the field ministry in the nearby Village of Indian Creek. L to R and working down there is Teresita and Josiah Ack, Bill and Beth Taylor, Braulio Ah Jr, Al Cardoza's head......=), and Chris and Andrea Posted by Picasa

We are enjoying a regular visit from our newly assigned traveling overseer and his wife. Chris is originally from Mexico City and Andrea is from Illinois - their smiles tell it all - they simply ooze love.......for Jehovah, for each other, for our congregation and the "friends" in it, as well as for the people that we meet in the door to door ministry. We will hate to see the weeks activities end - BUT in six months or so, we will see them again.........=) Posted by Picasa

Here are two more genuine "characters" - David (L) and Alfonso (R) of Witz Southern Grocery Supply Ltd of Punta Gorda. They work very hard for the living that they make and I always come away with a smile on my face. Posted by Picasa

This picture begins a new feature for the web log - the "character" of the day -and it is most appropriate that Pedro Aleman should be the first one, as he is a "real character" - Pedro owns a little shop/bar/guest house in Big Falls and it is a real joy to do business with him. Posted by Picasa

while visiting a "squatter" showed up - a 7 foot long tropical ratsnake had slithered up a post to the second level and then headed into the cabin the through the small opening that you can see here - it was about as big around as my wrist and I wish that I had gotten the camera up quicker - we unlocked the door and looked inside for it but he had obviously activated his cloaking device Posted by Picasa

the trip to my neighbor's was to examine his cabin for possible repairs that might be needed - we found termites, leaf-cutter ants, and bats in the belfry Posted by Picasa

these are the amazingly delicate flowers of another orchid variety - this shot with the macro setting - they are very tiny Posted by Picasa

they are stunningly beautiful Posted by Picasa

Nancy helped me to know that these are from the ginger family Posted by Picasa

I stumbled across a new variety of orchid yesterday while walking through my neighbor's property - it's a beauty Posted by Picasa

I just love the passion flowers Posted by Picasa

this is the dry coconut "how-to" process 1) whack off one end, just enought so you can get the coconut water out - drink that before continuing 2) unwrap the coconut from its furry outer garment 3)whack the coconut in half 4) finally take out the white inner goodie and enjoy

I think Kathy looks a lot better "without" the machette Posted by Picasa

One of my Bible students gave me two of these the other day and I planted them - I think that they are heleconias, but I haven't had time to try to identify them as of yet Posted by Picasa

there is some disagreement over just which trogan this is - I say violaceous and Kathy says black-headed, I'll let you decide Posted by Picasa

this is your basic olive-throated parakeet from about 100 feet - sorry for the fuzziness Posted by Picasa

the newest type of passion flower to be located - i still haven't identified it - it has much smaller fruit - the size of a small plum Posted by Picasa

now, a few bird pictures - not very good ones, but the best that I can do, considering their elusive nature - this is the Montezuma's Orapendola (he's there , trust me - right in the center of the frame) Posted by Picasa
